BRIGADA ESKWELA 2014

KCWD maintenance men helped cleaning the school

To help D.C. Gurruchari Memorial School in Barangay Hilamonan prepare for the opening of the new school year, KCWD participated in the Brigada Eskwela last May 19, 2014. Brigada Eskwela is an annual activity of the Department of Education wherein stakeholders voluntarily and collectively work together in order to jumpstart the opening of the school year. This is because even if education as mandated in the Philippine Constitution enjoys a substantial share in the national budget, resources, most especially for the public schools are not sufficient to provide for pupils’ material needs.

The mission of this noble undertaking includes cleaning of classrooms, repairing school facilities and providing materials that would contribute in making the classroom a conducive place for study. Students, parents and employees from various government sectors participate in this worthwhile endeavor.

This years’ Brigada Eskwela theme is “Disaster Preparedness”. It emphasizes on the impact of calamities on learners of educational institutions and what they can do to contribute in efforts to curb disasters.

Conscious of this goal, KCWD took part in providing unparalleled support for its chosen learning institution. The office sent its kindhearted and generous employees to assist the school in fulfilling the mission of Brigada Eskwela. The employees helped in cleaning and repainting of classrooms and benches and cutting off branches of trees. Aside from these, some of the schools around the vicinity and near the center of the city received paint donation from KCWD. This donation is made possible through the helping hands of the Engineering Department employee Engr. Michael John B. Bocol with the support of the entire management.

KCWD also embarked on a new venture helping educational institutions in various other ways. Aside from steadily providing quality water supply, KCWD reached out to extend other forms of assistance that would be beneficial to all. Truly, Kabankalan City Water District continues to live its vision of being recognized as the best – performing Water District in Negros Occidental.
